Local Counseling
School Counselors in the Newberg School District have compiled a list of local counseling resources for families to utilize should they like to pursue outside therapy. While I can't make specific recommendations, I can provide the list and go through it with you.

Local Counseling Resources
School Based Therapist
Newberg School District has recently partnered with Lutheran Community Services to provide ongoing counseling on location at the school both during school hours and after at no cost for families. For more information, please contact the school counselor. Space is limited.
Resource Room
Through the extensive work of parent volunteers, Mabel Rush now has a resource room as of spring of 2018! The Resource Room is full of clothing, coats, winter gear, shoes, school supplies, snacks, hygiene supplies, and other items students might need in order to be successful here at school.
In order to access the resource room, students simply need to ask their teacher or the school counselor and they will arrange for them to go down and get what they need with an adult.
If a student brings home something that a family feels they do not need, families are welcome to bring the item back to the school. Otherwise, it is assumed that the student will be keeping it.
Families can also access the resource room when the library is not in use by contacting the school counselor.
Friday Food Bags
Love Inc. sponsors our Friday Food Bag program. Each week a child or the parent from a participating family will receive a bag of food that includes two loaves of bread and a jar each of peanut butter and jelly to supplement family meals over the weekend. The bag is normally delivered to the oldest child at the school (unless arranged otherwise) and is brought home the last day of the week. A big thank you to our volunteers who gather supplies and put together our bags. Another thank you to our 5th grade Bread Delivery Team!
If you are interested in signing up to receive a Friday Food Bag, simply contact the school counselor.
Community Resources
Newberg School District has gathered together a list of various community resources. On their website you can find resources for food, shelter, mental health, transportation, and other needs.
Child Abuse Hotlines
School employees are considered mandatory reporters and as such are required by law to inform the proper authorities with regards to any suspected child abuse.
If you believe a child is being abused, you are also able to call law enforcement or the child abuse hotline.

Crisis Support
When students are in school and express suicidal thoughts, the school counselor will speak to them and do a suicide risk assessment and will notify parents no matter what the results.
If you or your student are having suicidal thoughts, please contact the national suicide hotline.
Yamhill County
Yamhill County has put together a Community Resource Guide. You can find information here regarding supports for everything from diapers to child care.
