Student Services
School Counselors support students in a variety of ways through both direct and indirect services. Below is more information about some of the services that are available to students at Mabel Rush through the school counseling program.
One of the direct services school counselors provide are classroom social emotional learning. Topics for lesson units are chosen through collaboration with teachers to meet the needs of the students, tie in to school and district goals, as well as to build upon units from previous grade levels. You can read more about classroom SEL at Mabel Rush here.
Small group and individual counseling are available for short term, goal focused counseling. You can read more about small group and individual counseling at Mabel Rush here.
Some students need extra support in school whether, that is through additional services or support plans. You can read more about behavioral supports at Mabel Rush here.
Once students are in 5th grade, they are given the opportunity to apply (and interview!) for school jobs. In these jobs, students are able to demonstrate that they are responsible and trustworthy individuals. Some of the jobs include note delivery, Friday Food Bag delivery, and Librarian Aid.
And, yes, they do get paid - in candy or prizes.
